For our autumn base camp on May 19-21 we’ll be jumping on our bikes and hitting the trails in beautiful Glenbrook National Park. So, you will need to bring a bicycle. It doesn’t need to be a special bike, it just needs to fit you comfortably and be in good working order. If you do not have a bike, please contact us because we may be able to lend you one.

What to bring

  • Cycling gear
    • Bike
    • Helmet & Gloves
    • Water bottle that fits your bike bottle holder
    • Small backpack
    • Tube repair kit and/or spare tube
  • Warm clothes: jacket, thermals and beanie.
  • Food as usual
  • Usual camping gear: sleeping gear, cooking gear, torch, folding chair, etcereta.
  • First aid kit, including space blanket (silver emergency blanket)
  • There are no showers or flushable toilets,  so come prepared!

Getting there

Please be at the church on Friday in time for a 4:30pm departure. Please bring your bike and a old-blanket on Thursday evening the 18th to the church between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, and we will pack them that night. The blanket is to protect your bike as we pack them for transit.

You can pack your gear in a duffel style bag (try to have all your gear in one bag, including your bike helmet) and your food in a separate ‘chiller’ bag. Please label everything with your name.
The gates to Glenbrook close at 6pm so we need to be ready to leave the church no later that 4:30pm Friday. We will be arriving at camp in the dark, and it will be cold when we arrive. Please bring a packed dinner with you to eat on the way, and bring your jacket and torch with you in the car as well.

Getting back

As usual we will do our best to be back at the church around 4:00 pm on Sunday,  but watch your email and our Facebook group on Sunday afternoon for a more precise ETA.

How to apply

To apply for this camp, push that big orange button below. Remember that everyone who is coming to the camp (Pathfinders, parent helpers and leaders) needs to complete the application form. The deadline for applications is May 7. The application fee is $30 per person.

Any parents wishing to attend will need to be comfortable riding on gravel. We can accommodate a limited number of parents on a first-come-first-served basis, depending upon the number of Pathfinders who apply. All parent helpers need their own sleeping and cooking gear, although the club can supply you with a tent. And remember, parents are not there to help their children, but to help the leaders!
